Sorry for the late reply, it has been a hectic couple of days. Well, where to begin when there is so much to say. First, and foremost my name is George I am one of the co-founders of Buzzmart.com. Since a young age I have been an advocate of buying and selling online, specifically on ...cough..ebay..cough sorry. I really enjoyed making my own money and most of all I enjoyed spending it even more. However, over time, especially as I grew older and realized that I needed more money to support myself, I realized the bay was too expensive for a small scale seller as myself. After the deduction of all fees, it was just not worth it anymore. So I thought of maybe trying other websites that do not charge such big commissions. Fair enough, there were many just like the bay out there but there was just something missing about all of them which did not make them stand out. They all felt like they were clones of one another, doing what ebay does at a cheaper cost to the seller but without offering anything unique. With the rise of facebook and youtube, I thought it would be a good idea to start my own marketplace which would incorporate some of these social networking and rich media elements, and so the story of Buzzmart begins.

In a way, I would describe Buzzmart as just having started off as a hobby, and it still is my hobby project, but after conducting some research into what people would like to see in new online marketplaces I decided to turn it into a business as well. After months, weeks, days, hours and time we should have been spending with our girlfriends, what you see live today at www.buzzmart.com is what we have been working on the last 2 years almost. To be honest we really underestimated the amount of work, think about having to code a marketplace from scratch as well as include social networking features. Not easy I tell you.

Anyways, we are continuing development as I write this. The ecommerce/auction market is a very competitive one to enter, with some very big players and sites popping up left and right before you can say "oh no, not another one!!". So we have to be realistic about our goals, but we truly believe we have something different from most our competitors. Our goal right now is to get as many people signed up and selling their stuff for free, with no commission or final fees. Marketing costs are not cheap as many website owners will know, so our success relies on our users to join and start selling. All first 10 listing that our newly registered users wish to sell are free and if they are unsold you can list them again and again for free until it is sold. Our PayPal and Moneybookers apis check if the item has been sold or not by doing a call-back to our system after the buyer pays the seller. There are some really smart workings in the background  ;D

Buzzmart has received many suggestions and feedback over the last couple of months. A number of them have been taken into consideration, discussed and implemented over the development period. Among them were the concerns and doubts about seller fees (Buzzmart credits).

It’s in our interest to make Buzzmart a social marketplace that will satisfy the needs and requirement of buyers and sellers alike, so we have taken a complete change of direction in order to achieve that:

1) Selling is free: No fees, no credits. Just sign-up and start selling.
2) No banner advertising: All advertising banners have been removed from the site.

Hope everyone had a great New Year and Holiday season. I know it has been a while but trust me the team and I have been very busy.

Just wanted to inform you guys that we have updated our marketplace with a neat micro-blogging feature that allows our users to interact, promote and request products from Buzzmart and other marketplaces. We would really like your opinions on this new function which can be found as soon as you log into Buzzmart and is called "My Network". Looking forward to everyone's replies.

We know it has been quiet for some time, but there is a really good reason for that.
For the last 2 months we have been working hard day and night to improve our marketplace platform by offering you all some great new features you guys asked for.

Here they are:

1) eBay listing and feedback import tool: You can now import all your live eBay listings directly into Buzzmart with just a few simple clicks.

2) Google Checkout: Sellers can now accept Google Checkout as an optional payment option.

3) Live chat: Now you can chat to all online sellers without them having to be on your friends list beforehand.

4) Interactive faq with Q&A facility.

5) Additional check out cart features.

6) Improvements to existing functions and design tweaks.

Over the last couple of weeks our tech bods have been working extra hard on improving our service and we're pleased to tell you about several fantastic new features we have implemented on our social marketplace platform:

The Buzzmart Network

Besides improving the overall layout of the Network, we have included a  neat feature which allows you to filter Buzzes by friends who are also connected with you on Facebook. You can now see which Facebook friends of yours are also using Buzzmart, making it easier for you to interact with people you already trust and find out what they are up to.

Furthermore, we have also added a function which allows you to connect your Twitter account with the Buzzmart Network allowing you to automatically tweet your Buzzmart activity to your followers.


A better look for your listings

Visitors can now view all listings either in list or gallery mode, making it clearer for buyers to find what they are looking for. Additionally, we have tweaked the way your individual listings look by re-arranging various attributes on the page and adding a zoom function to all listing images.

A smarter sell template

New features to the sell template include an automated image suggestion tool which fetches images based on the title of your listing. No more worrying about finding the right image for your products.

Furthermore, we have included the ability to add UPC, MPN, Brand and ISBN fields to your products so that your listings can get indexed by Google Product Search.

Personalized profile pages

We have improved the way profile pages display by bringing your listings to the top of the page and giving them maximum visibility which they deserve. You can also link your Facebook fan pages directly into your Buzzmart profile page and interact with other member using our Live Video Chat tool.
